Education and Outreach

Knowledge is increasing at an unprecedented rate, and researchers and clinicians must increasingly understand and use concepts that lie outside their area of specialization. The rapid increase in knowledge in basic disciplines such as computational biology and genetics, their increasing relevance in diagnosing and treating diseases, and the increased rate at which basic discoveries are brought to the clinic all require new approaches to medical education. Similarly, understanding optimal methods of clinical deployment (implementation science) is critical for success. A key goal of IPM is to provide education in Precision Medicine to all levels of personnel at Pitt/UPMC and beyond.

IPM leadership teach in an array of courses within the School of Medicine as well as providing education opportunities to established care providers through formal lectures, interactive workshops, email newsletters and a monthly Speaker Series highlighting advances in Precision Medicine from around the world.
